
The Wallace Fire Department is headed by Fire Chief Thomas Townsend. He and other volunteers answer about 300-400 calls per year, in a safe and timely manner. These calls range from major structure fires, motor vehicle fires, emergency medical assistance calls, etc. As of date, the department has 34 volunteers and one paid member.
The department has seven trucks and a rescue boat readily available to assist with any emergencies that may arise. The department prides itself on maintaining top of the line trucks and equipment to better handle any emergency situation that comes its way.
Each year, volunteers donate their time to the community by participating in event such as The Phoenix Society World Burn Cook-Off, UNC Burn Center Fall Retreat, Christmas at Twilight, Wallace Christmas Parade, 4th of July Celebration, and National Night Out.
As of date, the Wallace Fire Department has one paid member that performs fire inspections on any business located with the town limits.
